Innocent’s story

Innocent joined us in 2014 through our feeding programs in Katwe after the loss of his mother left him in the care of his grandmother under extremely harsh conditions. Overwhelmed and without hope, he eventually turned to the streets, where he fell into drug use. When he entered our transitional shelter, the journey to recovery was long and difficult, but with consistent support over three years, Innocent gradually transformed into a hopeful and active young member of the community.

When he entered our transitional shelter, the road to rehabilitation was long and difficult. It took three years of consistent care, counseling, and support for Innocent to begin healing and rebuilding his life. Over time, he transformed into a responsible and active member of the community, driven by a deep love for education.

Samuel's story

Samuel's story

Before the Program Image

Samuel came to us a few years ago in poor health, suffering from a chronic stomach condition that had affected him since 2015. After losing his mother and receiving no support from his father, he was raised by his grandmother under very difficult circumstances. Eventually, he ended up on the streets, selling yellow bananas to survive. It was there he found a sense of belonging among other street connected children, spending much of his time trying to get by.

Despite the hardships, Samuel’s dream of becoming a scientist has remained strong. He loves the color blue and brings that same calm focus to his studies. With our support, Samuel was successfully resettled and has remained in school, where we continue to meet all his needs. He is currently sitting for his national examinations, and we couldn’t be prouder of the resilience, determination, and hope he carries into his future.
